Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered a variety of interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is actually a dung trying to navigate to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. Across numerous challenges, you'll face boss fights and access a shop to purchase outfits for your poop character.
Time your jumps with caution, as a wrong move means starting over. Bounce off bubbles to launch your character to new heights, traverse fragile ledges, and touch buttons to unlock hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels in which gameplay intensifies.
Visually, the demo features vibrant stages and catchy music score. Its minimalist visual style of morphing geometric shapes could recall fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
Even though hard to recall previous releases where you control a piece of feces, gaming frequently featured fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
