Two individuals losing their lives in an attack on a religious center in Manchester have been revealed by authorities as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Three others remain in hospital with critical wounds after the attacker used an automobile into people before attacking with a knife on Thursday.

The assault, which law enforcement has confirmed was a terrorist incident, occurred on Judaism's holiest day, the most important observance in the Jewish tradition.

The assailant, who was shot dead at the site, was a 35-year-old UK national of Syrian descent who was not previously known to counter terrorism police, per government sources.

Public Reaction

"Our hearts are broken," the nation's top rabbinical authority stated.

In an interview with a national radio program, he stated: "The tragic incident was an awful blow to us, something which we had apprehensions regarding might happen because of the preceding circumstances."

The attack was not only "an extremely difficult period" for Jewish citizens nationwide "but for the entire nation," he emphasized.

Security Measures

"Our responsibility is to guarantee our Jewish community, our people can conduct their daily activities with protection and peace of mind," the Home Secretary stated.

"It is unacceptable that the Jewish community in our country to feel like they have to live a smaller Jewish life, that they cannot conduct their affairs and observe their religion and go to their communal institutions in freedom," she stated.

The assailant was not identified to counter-terrorism police, she stated to broadcasters, and it was "premature" to say if there was a terrorist cell behind the attack.

Investigation Update

The police investigation was "moving forward quickly" and there was an enhanced security deployment at Jewish worship centers across the UK.

"Authorities allocate protective measures," the minister commented, adding: "It will be necessary to examine what more we can do to address rising antisemitism."

Local authorities said they were supporting the families of the two victims.

"Sincere condolences are with Mr Daulby and Mr Cravitz's loved ones at this incredibly difficult period," a senior police officer stated.

He said that trained family liaison officers were in contact with them and would maintain assistance through the coronial process.

"Although procedures exist which need compliance, we commit to being mindful of cultural preferences and needs and to making certain that the victims and their families' preferences are followed," he continued, mentioning that the deceased individuals were from the Manchester community.

Autopsies are scheduled on Friday, as confirmed by government statements.
