England Manager Tuchel Insists No Issue with Bellingham, Phil Foden, or Grealish

Press Description: Tuchel discussing Jude Bellingham

England's Head Coach Thomas Tuchel has declared that he holds "no problem" with Jude Bellingham following these players did not make the Three Lions squad for forthcoming fixtures against Wales and Latvia.

Bellingham did not earn a recall even after returning from a shoulder injury, whereas Foden and Grealish are also absent despite displaying improved form with their respective clubs.

Tuchel revealed that Bellingham desired to be included of the selection, after a conversation with him via telephone.

"Bellingham is a special player, and for exceptional talents there can often be special rules," the coach said about the Real Madrid star, who has made just one start since returning to full health.

"However we decided to maintain the straightforward choice of inviting the same group.

"Bellingham always deserves to be here. There is also the situation that he has not quite regained his optimal form again at his club - he has not completed a full match.

"He expressed a desire to be selected. We had a phone call."

The England boss made an effort to highlight his good rapport with Bellingham following he said sorry to him previously for calling his conduct during a match as "repulsive" in a live interview.

The German explained that he uttered those terms "without meaning to" and would be more cautious going forward.

Inquired if he had any issue with Bellingham, he responded: "No. There is no issue either with Phil Foden or Grealish.

"Foden is back to influencing and deciding games for his club. Jack is almost to being back to the top form of himself.

"There exists no personal issue."

Bukayo Saka taking the place of the injured Madueke is the only change to last month's squad, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Quansah keeping their spots after joining as late additions previously due to injury.

England play the Welsh team in a non-competitive match at Wembley Stadium on this Thursday before a qualifying match in the Latvian capital on October 14.

Should England triumph in the away fixture, they will require a maximum of two points from their final two qualifiers - against Albania and Serbia in next month - to secure a place in the upcoming tournament in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Impressive Display By the Manager

The Three Lions produced their best display significantly under Tuchel's leadership when they beat the Serbian team five-nil on the road in Belgrade last time out.

The coach stated that showing made it an easy decision to keep largely the identical group, though "there exist no certainties" for every squad member regarding being picked.

"The last camp was only three and a half weeks ago and the cohesion and spirit was on the highest level. That is the reason we decided to invite the same group to this camp," he said.

"Phil is in a excellent run of form. Wharton deserves to be with us. Jones and Trevoh Chalobah are getting playing time with their clubs.

"We have players who warrant to be here. Cole Palmer is unfit and is a key talent. It will consistently remain like this.

"Are we a stronger side with Bellingham? Absolutely. But I mentioned before, what do we do if Jude is unavailable before the World Cup? Do we simply give up?"

The Manager's Press Conference Draws Attention

The England manager again gave a headline-grabbing press briefing.

Tuchel, a master of managing his relationship with the press, began with an initial remarks to set out his reasoning for his selections.

Bellingham is ready to play and expressed interest to come to camp, but the coach explained he did not want to alter the squad too much after a statement five-goal win over Serbia - where the boss noted team spirit was extremely strong.

However with Tuchel not selecting the star, and his repeated remarks about team spirit, it is hard not to link the aspects - even though he said multiple times how he is "exceptional" and that there is "no issue" between Tuchel and one of England's key talents.

Tuchel has consistently made it evident that he wanted to make the England squad feel like a club team and, by retaining the identical selection after a statement win, he has achieved that. But the inquiries will come again in the next camp if the team win well in these upcoming fixtures.
