Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, many players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun using personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four types of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms found within the game.

Some of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Task

One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is tough enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and possibly Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for completing them in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It is expected if several of these tasks are made easier in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

Currently, the community continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer gaming experience in subsequent patches.
